Online resources: Abstract: The Farm Practice entitled "Production of Green Corn Intercropped With Bush Sitao Under Lowland Condition" was conducted at Buenavista II, General Trias, Cavite from September to December 1994. The project aimed to increase land productivity per unit area through intercropping corn with bush sitao, and also to provide information regarding the production of corn and bush sitao through the intercropping system. A 1,000 square meter field was planted to corn intercropped with bush sitao. The field was plowed and harrowed twice with an interval of two weeks. Occurence of pests and diseases on corn was observed one and one-half months after planting, and twenty days after planting for bush sitao. Plants were sprayed with Malathion at the rate of three table spoonfuls per gallon of water. Corn was harvested green and sold on a wholesale basis. On the other hand, bush sitao was harvested when the pods reached the marketable size and showed signs of maturity. The total yield obtained in 1,000 square meter land was 1575 ears of corn and 80 kilograms of bush sitao. Total sales of both crops amounted to ~3,696.25. After deducting all the expenses, 2 net income of 91,583.95 was realized.
