Abstract: The farm practice project, entitled " Supplemental Lighting, Pinching and Disbudding in the Production of Chrysanthemum", was conducted in one of the greenhouses of the Crop Science Department, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite from October 1996 to February 1997. The project aimed to develop in the student awareness on the production of chrysanthemum using techniques on supplemental lighting, pinching and disbudding chrysanthemum and to generate income from the sale of chrysanthemum flowers. The project was conducted in an approximately 40 sq. in greenhouse. Lighting facilities were set up to provide the plants with the needed light intensity. All the appropriate cultural management practices including pinching or disbudding were also employed. The technology adopted resulted in the production of some 72 flower sprays and 400 marketable potted chrysanthemums. The chrysanthemum flower sprays were classified and were found to have varying classes that ranged from Classes A to C. Potted chrysanthemum_ plants were not graded and instead sold as is. The project gave gross sales of marketable potted plants amounting to P 8,073.00 and after deducting the cost of production of P 4,081.62, a net income of P 3,991.38 was realized. The project gave a 93.11 percent return on investment (ROI) which means that the project is a feasible and viable production activity.
