Abstract: A farm practice was conducted at the Cavite State University Poultry Farm from March 17 to April 24, 1998 to put into use the knowledge he gained from the classroom in managing a backyard enterprise. One thousand five hundred straight-run commercial broilers were used in this farm practice. They were reared in a poultry house with a floor area of 250 square feet. The birds were fed ad libitum throughout the project Chick Booster Mash, Boiler Starter Mash and Finisher Mash were given in different stages of growth. Fresh and clean drinking water was made available at all times. The birds consumed a total of 4,783.5 kilogram of feeds during the duration of the project. and gained a total final body weight of 2,399.67 kg or an average of 1.67 kg. Forty-five birds died during the first 11 days, 19 during the 12th to the 28th day and four during the 29th to the 39th day period. A total of 68 birds died during the duration of the project or 4.53 percent of the flock which is still within the acceptable limit. The birds were sold at P 58 per kilogram live weight. A total sale was P 139,279.52. Total expenses incurred was P 95,923.32. The net income derived from the project was P 43,356.2 giving a return on investment of 45.20 percent
