VERGARA, MYLENE BERNARDO. "Steniel Cavite Packaging Corporation-Gateway Business Park, Javalera, General Trias, Cavite". An Undergraduate Field Study, Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing. Cavite State University. April, 1998. Adviser: Melia E. Feranil.
The Steniel Cavite Packaging Corporation located inside the Gateway Business Park, Javalera, General Trias, Cavite was chosen as the study area. A two and a half-month field study was conducted to enable the trainee to apply her knowledge learned from the classroom to actual business operations and to describe the organization and management of the firm in terms of production, marketing and finance and identify problems encountered and suggest feasible solutions. Data and information were gathered from company's written reports, records and file, observations, actual participation in the office work and from the personal interviews with the employees and production workers of the firm. The firm is a corporate type of business organization, wholly-owned subsidiary of Steniel Manufacturing Corporation. Its well-organized layout is conducive to high productivity and boasts Steniels' competitive edge in terms of product quality and cost efficiency. The company manufactures corrugated carton box from paper to board, through the use of modern flexo machines. It delivers the finished product based on the orders made by the customers which include test, dimension, design, color, quality, quantity, shipment and payment.
The prices of the boxes were based on the cost of raw materials used. The firm encountered net loss of P245 million in 1996 due to the existence of competitors like Cavite Packaging Corporation and the provision of separation pay of some employees of Cainta plant. At present, Steniel works towards ISO-9002 accreditation to assure customers of meeting their quality requirements.
