A total of 200 commercial Peterson broiler chicks were used in this study to determine the effect of using bulbs of different colors on the body development, as well as feed efficiency of the birds, and the possibility of substituting the commonly used light with other color on brooding stage. Birds were divided into four treatments and were replicated twice with 25 birds in each replicate. Treatment I as a control was lighted with white bulb, Treatment II was lighted with red bulb, Treatment III was lighted with green bulb and Treatment IV was lighted with blue bulb. No significant differences were observed on the average body weight and feed efficiency of the birds during the third to the eighth week although significant at first and second week. No significant differences were observed on the average feed consumption of the birds throughout the experimental period. Mortality was low and differences were also found to be insignificant.
