Adviser: Miss Cristeta Mo Montano This research study attempted to determine the relationship between parental attention and attitude toward school of First Year high school students in DSAC, school year 1990 - 1991. The total population in this study was 192 first year high school students. This study used 100 respondents which is 52% of the total population. It was found out in this study that both the students and parents concur in their evaluation of the attention given by the latter and received by the former. The students and teachers concur in their evaluation of the students attitude toward school. The students who received high parental attention have high attitude toward school. Based on the finding in this study, the fol-lowing are strongly recommended: 1) The parents should provide the maximum parental attention to their school children so that they will have high attitude toward school, 2) The school teacher should find out students with less sustained favorable attitude or those with low attitude toward school and help them by encouraging their parents to give them more attention and, 3) The school administrators should plan programs on the enlightment and encouragement of parents on parental attention toward children. Further studies on amount of parental attention and attitude toward school, to include other variables such as: age, sex, 10Q., socioeconomic status, pa-rents educational attainment, and academic performance are also recommended.
