Abstract: MATEL, JOHANNA O, Applied Research IV (Agri-Seience Curriculum), Den Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, March 1991. POT. CULTURE OF CHRYSANTHEMUM (Chrysanthemum morifolium) AFFECTED BY DIFFERENT GROWING MEDIA. Adviser: Mrs. Edna A. Vida. The study was conducted to:.1) determine the effects of the different growing media on the growth and flowering of chryganthemums 2) determine which of the growing medium is best suited for the growth and flowering of chrysanthemum. A total of 150 chrysanthemum rooted stem cuttings were used in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications and ten treatments, each treatment consisting of five sample units. The treatments used were:..f, (control- pure garden soil); ®, (50% garden soil + 50% horse manure), fs (50%. garden soil « 50% chicken manure), T, (50% garden soil + 50% cow manure}, Ts (1/3 garden soil + 1/3 sand + 1/3 compost), T. (50m garden soil + 50K compost}, T, (50% garden soil + 50% hog manure), f. (50% garden soil + 50% dried ipil-ipil leaves), Tg (50% garden soil + 50K wood agh) and T,, (50% garden soil + 50% sawdust). The study revealed that the use of combination of garden soil plus ipil-ipil leaves {T,) and the combination of garden soil plus chicken manure (2) are the best growing medium for chrysanthemum. It was found out that chrysanthemum flower earlier, produce higher number of shoots and flowers, and bigger flowers.
