Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. May 2019. Adviser: Prof. Lemuel S. Gallogo. The study was conducted last January 2019 in Quezon City Police Department, Police Station 11, Galas, Quezon City to identify the contextual definitions of the concepts of /oob namely, utang na loob, sama ng loob, gaan ng loob and forgiveness according to the selected Filipino mothers of incarcerated children. Specifically the study aimed to: 1. determine the lived experiences of forgiveness based on the statements of Filipino mothers of incarcerated children when harboring utang na loob, sama ng loob and guan ng loob. Phenomenological approach was used in the study. The researchers used purposive sampling technique in this study. Demographical and in-take interviews were done to gather pertinent data from 10 selected respondents. Most of them have male incarcerated child and many of them served almost a month in the facility. Results revealed that the mothers of incarcerated children exhibit utang na loob, sama ng loob and gaan ng loob and different forms. It also showed that mothers hid their feelings of hatred towards their incarcerated child and produces unconditional and extensive familialism afterwards. The participants also stated that they are not angry towards their child. The only negative feeling they felt was the guilt on themselves by questioning their parenting roles.
