Level of Performance and Competency of Barangay Police in selected Barangay of
Indang, Cavite in Maintaining Peace and Order. Undergraduate

This study was conducted from August 2018 to May 2019 in Indang, Cavite to
determine the level of performance and competency of Barangay Police in selected barangay
of Indang, Cavite in maintaining peace and order. Specifically, it aimed to: I.
determine the demographic profile of selected barangay police in selected barangay of
Indang, Cavite; 2. determine the level of performance of barangay police in selected
barangay of Indang, Cavite on maintaining peace and order; 3. determine the level of
competency of barangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite on maintainino peace
and order; 4. identify if there is significant difference between the level of performance of
barangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite in maintaining peace and order when
grouped by demographic profile; 5. identify if there is significant
difference between the level of competency of barangay police in selected barangay of
Indang, Cavite in maintaining peace and order when grouped by demographic profile;
6. identify if there is significant difference between the perception of barangay police, residents
and barangay officials in the level of performance of barangay police in maintaining peace and
order; and 7. identify if there is significant difference between the perception of barangay police,
residents and barangay officials in the level of competency of barangay police in maintaining
peace and order. Self-made questionnaire were given to the participants to gather important
data. There were 35barangay police, 40 barangay officials and 370 residents total of 452
panicipants from selected barangay of Indang, Cavite Findings show that as for the
demographic profile ofbarangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite. Majority of
barangay police are 41 to 50 years old; male; married; high school graduate and 7 months —to
I year in service being a barangay police.
As for level of performance of barangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite
in maintaining peace and order in terms of conducting patrol. In general it has a verbal
interpretation of high quality performance. It means that barangay police are performing well
their duties about conducting patrol in their barangay.
As for level of performance of barangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite
in maintaining peace and order in terms of enforcing law and ordinances of the barangay. In
general it has a verbal interpretation of high quality performance. It means that barangay
police are execute properly the law and ordinances of their barangay.
As for level of performance of barangay police in selected barangay of Indang,
Cavite in maintaining peace and order in terms of information dissemination. In general it has a
verbal interpretation of very high quality performance. It means that barangay police are
disseminate an accurate and useful information in their barangay.
As for level of performance of barangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite in
maintaining peace and order in terms of other duties. In general it has a verbal interpretation of
high quality performance. It means that barangay police are capable to perform an other duties
in their barangay like firefighting, being first responder and etc As for level of competency of
barangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite in maintaining peace and order in terms
of skills. In general it has a verbal interpretation of high quality competence. It means that
barangay police are able to perform their knowledge about being a barangay police.
As for level of competency of barangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite in
maintaining peace and order in terms of attitude. In general it has a verbal interpretation of
high quality competence. It means that barangay police feel the importance to perform well
their duties in the barangay.
There is no significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police
and demographic profile in terms of age. Thus, it revealed that the null hypothesis of no
significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police in maintaining peace
and order and their demographic profile in terms of age was accepted.
There is a significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police
and demographic profile in terms of sex. Thus, it revealed that the null hypothesis of no
significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police in maintaining peace
and order and their demographic profile in terms of sex was rejected.
There is no significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police
and demographic profile in terms of civil status. Thus, it revealed that the null hypothesis of no
significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police in maintaining peace
and order and their demographic profile in terms of civil stauts was accepted
There is a significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police and
demographic profile in terms of educational attainment Thus, it revealed that the null hypothesis
of no significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police in maintaining
peace and order and their demographic profile in terms of educational attainment was rejected.
There is no significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police
and demographic profile in terms of length of service. Thus, it revealed that the null hypothesis
of no significant difference between the overall performance of barangay police in maintaining
peace and order and their demographic profile in terms of length of service was accepted.
There is no significant difference between the overall competency of barangay police
and demographic profile in terms of age. Thus, it revealed that the null hypothesis of no
significant difference between the overall competency of barangay police in maintaining peace
and order and their demographic profile in terms of age was accepted.

and demographic profile in terms of sex. Thus, it revealed that the null hypothesis of no

and barangay officials in the level of performance of barangay police in maintaining peace and
order. Barangay police itself had the higher mean given in the perception of the respondents in
the overall performance of the barangay police in selected barangay of Indang, Cavite in
maintaining peace and order.
