The study was conducted to design, develop and evaluate module in Home Economics
specifically beauty care (nail care) for day-to-day teaching of the subject and to prepare them
to new changes because in this modern days, technology plays
vital role in instruction. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the scope of the
Home Economics module for grade 9 students; determine strategies to be used in designing
and development of Home Economics module for grade 9 students;
determine the evaluation of subject matter specialist in the module in terms of subject matter,
objectives, clarity of explanation and aids to instruction; determine the evaluation of computer
experts in the module in terms of interactivity and web design
character; and determine the evaluation of students in the module in terms of course evaluation
and course content. Developmental and descriptive research was used in the study. Data
collection was conducted during phase I and phase Ill before and after the design and
development of module or during phase ll. The research used survey questionnaires for subject
matter specialists, computer specialists and grade
9 student to assess the developed Home Economics module for grade 9.
The developed Home Economics module for grade 9 students is based on K to 12 Basic
Education Curriculum Guide in Technology and Livelihood Education released in December
2013, Home Economics-Beauty Care (Nail Care). The developed Home Economics module for
grade 9 students focus on Hand Spa
Treatment. The study follows the steps of ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development,
Implementation and Evaluation) model to develop the Home Economics module for grade 9
students. The grade 9 cosmetology students able to experience the learning module either in
classroom-based or self-paced learning for one whole grading period. Evaluation, comments
and suggestions from subject matter specialist, computer experts and students were gathered
and the revision and the finalization of the module was based on the result of the evaluation of
the subject matter specialist, computer experts and grade 9 students.
The overall result shows that the developed learning module is highly acceptable, which
asserts that the learning module is suitable and useful for learning. The general result of
evaluation signifies that the subject matter specialists, computer experts and students
corroborate the suitability, feasibility and acceptability of the developed Home Economics
module for grade 9 students as outstanding and highly acceptable as learning aid.
