The study, "Performance of Different Varieties of Cowpea" was conducted from December 20, 1980 to March 1981 at Aguado, Trece Martires City. A 100 square meter land was used as an experimental field. This was divided into three replications and each replication was divided into five treatments. Four days after sowing, it was observed that germination took place; after forty-three days the plants began to flower. This was first observed in Treatment 1 followed by Treatment 5, five days after. Plants in other treatments started to flower only sixty days after planting. Sixty three days after, Treatments 1 and 5, were harvested, while for other treatments harvesting took place eighty five days after planting. Aphids (Aphis spp. Myzus) was the only insect pest found attacking the crops but this was controlled by spraying Sevin at recommended rate. The highest computed yield of dried pods was observed in Treatment 2, with 1.47 kgs.as the average yield.
