Abstract: GONZALES, LEO G. and ZULUETA, JOHN VINCENT F., Proposed Design of a Footbridge in Brgy. San Agustin, Trece Martires City, Cavite. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. Larry E. Rocela A footbridge is a bridge designed for pedestrians, cyclists, and even animals. The technical classification of a footbridge depends on the location, the number of populations, and function of the structure. The design of a footbridge in Brgy. San Agustin, Trece Martires City was conducted at Cavite State University-Main Campus from October 2018 to June 2019. The study aimed to prepare a design of footbridge using steel and reinforced concrete design. It has a floor area of 365.50 square meters. It is a four-way footbridge with the highest point elevation of 9.1 meters above the ground. The study provided the structural details of the proposed footbridge. Architectural plan was provided by the authors. The structural plan included detailed design of the metal deck, concrete column, steel beam, steel column, and footing. The analysis of the individual structural member was obtained with the aid of Structural Aided Analysis and Design (STAAD) software. The structural design of the buildings was done following the guidelines set by the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015) standards and ACI Code. Allowable Stress Design (ASD) and Ultimate Stress Design (USD) were used in designing steel and concrete members respectively. The study provided also electrical and plumbing plans, construction specifications, and cost estimates. After the analysis and computations, the design was proven safe. The researchers recommended using other engineering software in designing a footbridge with man lift and use pre-stressed member to reduce the possible total weight of the footbridge. The design of a man lift with cost estimate must be included in the study for more detailed research. The estimated total project cost of the proposed footbridge is Php PI 3,725,806.62
