Abstract: FERNANDEZ, JAMES EDSEL G. Backyard Hog Production Enterprise in Maragondon, Cavite: An Entrepreneurial Development Project. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship Major in Animal Production, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2018. Adviser: Dr. Cristina F. Olo. This backyard hog production project was conducted at Brgy. Pulo ni Sara, Pantihan 4, Maragondon, Cavite from January 2, 2018 to April 14, 2018. The conduct of the project aimed to obtain profit from in backyard hog raising; and apply swine raising skills and knowledge in backyard hog production. The pen was prepared by cleaning two weeks before the staff of the project. The project used four weanlings with an average initial weight of 14 kg. The four piglets was purchased from Brgy. Batas Bailen Cavite. They were fed three times a a day at about 7:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. They were given hog starter pellet during the first month. After this, hog grower pellet was provided. For the last 15 days, hog finisher pellet was given to the pigs until marketing. Changing of feed type was done gradually to avoid stress. The weanlings were dewormed on the 31 days of the production. The hogs were bathed daily between 8:30 a.m — 2:00 p.m. The four fattener hogs attained an average gain in weight of 77 kg with a total gain in weight of 308 kg. The average daily gain of the hogs was 748 g and the average feed conversion efficiency was 2.28. During the marketing period, the four hogs were sold on a live weight basis at the price of P 125 00 per kg. The hogs attained an average final weight of 91 kg. The total production cost was P 32,952.00 with a total sale of P 45,500.00. The net income of the project was P 12,548.00 with a return on investment (ROI) of 38.08 %.
