Abstract: Mojica, Christopher Eyaya, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1994. "A Study on the Production and Marketing of Guayabano and Pineapple Processed Products of NTDC-DSAC Processing Center". Adviser: Dr. Maria A. Ersando. The study was conducted at the National Training and Demonstration Center of the Don Severino Agricultural College with the aim of determining (1) the processed products produced from guayabano and pineapple, (2) the production level of each of these processed products, (3) the cost and return of producing processed products from guayabano and pineapple, and (4) determine the problems encountered in the production and marketing of such processed products. The needed information were gathered through personal interview with the management and other personnel of the center. The products of the center produced from guayabano and pineapple during the conduct of the study were: guayabano concentrate, guayabano preserved in syrup, guayabano candy and guayabano juice; pineapple jam, pineapple candy, pineapple jelly and pineapple juice. The buyers of these products were either wholesaler-retailer, retailer or final consumer. Total cash return and cash expenses of the center in producing processed products from guayabano and pineapple in 1993 were P 75,725.00 and P 63,954, respectively which suggest a positive return above cash cost amounting to P 82,024.00. The net income of the center from producing processed products from guayabano and pineapple amounted to P 23,184.00. This would be higher once the value of stocks which were left unsold during the period is considered. The main problems encountered include (1) difficulties in the acquisition of raw materials, (2) in availability of vehicle to transport products, (3) lack of funds for printing brochures and other printed materials needed in its operation. To solve some of its problems, it is suggested that a tie-up be established with the SAKA, DSAC production projects and other nearby sources which could possibly supply the needed materials. It is also suggested that a vehicle be assigned solely for the use of NTDC in delivering the processed products; and that the NTDC generates enough funds through the assistance of linked agencies.
