Abstract: OLABE, RONILO R. , Applied Research IV (Agri-Science Curriculum) Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang , Cavite, November 19910 "Effect of Achuete Seeds (Bixa Orellana) as Feed Additives on the Growth Performance of Broilers. Adviser: Mr. Erano C Esguerra This study was conducted to determine the effects of achuete on the growth rate, feed consumption, feed efficiency and carcass quality of broilers and find out the level at which achuete can be incorporated in broiler ration without affecting the performance of birds Five treatment groups having different Levels of achuete seeds were used and replicated three times. Different levels of additives were as follows: 1 — control (Pure commercial mash); T2 — 15 grams of achuete seeds per kilo— gram of commercial mash; T3 — 30 grams of achuete seeds per kilogram of commercial mash; 4 — 45 grams of achuete seeds per kilogram of commercial mash. The results revealed that (60 g of achuete seeds/ kilogram of commercial mash) was the best level of additive This treatment improves the growth of chicks in terms of final weight and gain in weight There were significant differences observed during the course or the study. It was found out that then the amount of achuete seeds added was higher, the gain in weight is higher and the carcass quality of the birds was greatly improved. Thus, the achuete seeds is advantageous as feed additives for broilers
