Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Operations Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2019. Adviser: Engr. Gilberto S. David. The study was conducted to determine the lean management practices of selected dress shops and tailoring shops in Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the demographic profile of owners and sewers in terms of age, sex, civil status, employment status, and length of service; determine the business profile of dress shops and tailoring shops. Specifically, year in operation and the number of employees; lean techniques that are performing specifically, 6S (Sort, set in order, shine, standardize, self-discipline and safety) and two types of wastes (defects and over production); issues that the shops encountered specifically in defects. To answer the objectives of the study, Descriptive statistical tools such as frequency, mean, rank, percentage, standard deviations were used. Based on the result, 29 percent of the participants belonged to the age bracket of 51 to 60 years old, mostly male (61%), married (78%), contractual (51%), 10 year and above in service (65%), and high school graduate (78%). Also, the study revealed that the dress shops and tailoring shops length of operation were mostly 10 years and above (59%), were machineries ranged to 3 to 5 (56%), and workers are below 5 (66%). In addition, dress shops and tailoring shops were not fully aware about lean management term (64%) but implementing the lean techniques such as 2 wastes (54%), the participants also agreed that implementing lean techniques has organizational benefits (92%), majority were started (91%), and 5 years and above in practice (91%). Moreover, the participants fully implemented the lean 6S with the mean of 4.3784, often encountered the over production (3.9135) and defects were present (2.89)
