ACAR, CHRISTIAN PAUL P. and EBARITA, MELVIN Z. Development of an
Automobile Wiper System Instructional Trainer, Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor
of Industrial Technology, major in Automotive Technology. Cavite State University,
Indang, Cavite. January 2022. Adviser: Prof. Danielito R. Escaño.
Automobile wiper system is one of the most important parts of a vehicle. It helps to
remove water from a vehicle’s windshield and almost all motor vehicles including cars, trucks,
buses, train locomotives are equipped with one or more such wipers which are usually the basic
requirement of a vehicle. As of 2002, windshield wipers and wiper systems are evolving
because of changes in automobiles and other vehicles, technical improvements, and consumer
demand. The automobile wiper system is one of the primary needs of the automotive section for
better quality education and additional skills to be acquired by the students. This will enhance
the skills and knowledge of the student not only in the parts familiarization of the automobile
wiper system but also in performing hands-on activities, especially troubleshooting, and
diagnosing the automobile wiper system. The main objective of the design project was to design
and develop an automobile wiper system that can clearly demonstrate to the learners the actual
electrical and mechanical system components and operation of the wiper system assembly. The
structure of the frame was designed systematically to attain a well- organized instructional
trainer wherein the components can be clearly viewed, and the learners can perform ease of
operation and usage. The newly fabricated automobile wiper system was proven effective in the
delivery of actual principle operation of the system. When the switches was turned on, it
activates the movement of the wiper arm and blade depending on the speed that is designated
on the system, while the operation of the rear wiper system was also significant when it was fully
operational same as with an automobile with installed wiper in front and rear. The authors
conducted test performance that proved the effectivity of the engine and meeting the objective of
the project improvement. After the evaluation by automotive instructors, the design project was
proven effective with outstanding results of evaluation and cited the essence of achieving the
desired objective of the design project.
