Abstract: LEPARDO, DINA MILLER L., MACATANGAY, CAMILLE JOY L., AND MENDOZA, RIO PINKY N. Stress Antecedents and Stress Management Practices of Working Students in Cavite State University. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Human Resource Development Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. August 2022. Adviser: Ms. Paulene C. Costa. The study was conducted to determine stress antecedents and stress management practices of working students of Cavite State University. Specifically, the study aimed to: (1) describe the socio-demographic profile of working students in terms of: age, sex, year level, number of units enrolled and occupation; (2) determine the common stress antecedents of working students as: student and employee; and (3) identify the stress management practices of working students. Two hundred (200) working students of Cavite State University, Indang Cavite served as the participants of the study. This study used a simple random technique that randomly selects a subset of the population. Through this, each working student has an equal chance to become a participant. It means that it guaranteed the part of the population, and the participants of this study were chosen in an unbiased manner. In turn, the statistical conclusions drawn from the analysis of the sample were valid. The participants of this study were the students enrolled in this Academic Year (2021-2022) and were working at the same time during the conduct of this study. The result of the study showed that academic and work-related stress was unavoidable because it might arise from a variety of sources at any time. It might be difficult to balance employment and studying as a working student. This caused them lots of stress and strain in life when it came to choosing what to pursue first. According to this study, the greatest stressful factor for working students as students was the uncertainty about their future. Because everything was done through online platforms, most of the participants were concerned about their future because of the pandemic. While the most significant stressor for a working student as an employee was the exhausting working hours caused by work-related stress. Lastly, this study discovered various stress management strategies that will be beneficial to both the participants and the public to control the stress of working students. It included seeking social support, which was highly practiced by the working students to manage their stress from academic performance and work while confrontive coping was not widely used by the working students as a practice.
