August 2022. Adviser: Ms. Princess M. Feliciano. The study was conducted from September 2021 to January 2022 in the municipality of General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite specifically in its top five most populated barangays to identify the cash management practices of selected households in the said municipality amidst COVID- 19 pandemic. Specifically, the study aimed to: (1) determine the socio-demographic characteristics of the selected households in terms of age, sex, highest educational attainment, sources of income, monthly income, household size and number of dependents; (2) identify the cash management practices of the selected households amidst COVID-19 pandemic in terms of budgeting, spending, saving and investing; and (3) determine if there is a significant relationship between the socio-demographic characteristics and cash management practices of the selected households in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite amidst COVID-19 pandemic. Descriptive and correlational research designs as well as quota sampling were utilized in the study. A total of 372 heads of households, main financial providers and breadwinners were surveyed. A survey questionnaire served as the main instrument in gathering the data. The data gathered from the survey conducted online were interpreted and analyzed using various statistical tools. Frequency, percentage distribution and median for ungrouped data were used to describe the socio- demographic characteristics and cash management practices of the participants. In addition, Somer's Delta and Pearson Chi-Square test were used to determine the significant relationship between the said variables. Most of the participants were in the age group 18 to 27 years old. Majority of them were female and many reached colleges level. Majority were working or employed indicating that work/employment served as their main source of income with an earning below P10,000 monthly. Furthermore, most of them had a household size ranging from 2 to 6 and majority had 2 to 3 dependents. In terms of cash management practices, the study showed that the participants' budgeting and spending practices were moderately practiced during COVID-19 pandemic which means that the selected households in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite often practiced cash management in terms of budgeting and spending. Whereas, saving and investing practices were found to be somewhat practiced indicating that the said practices were sometimes practiced during COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, based on the results, the cash management practices of the selected households in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite were moderately practiced during COVID-19 pandemic. Lastly, the study revealed that the age, highest educational attainment, and monthly income of the participants had a significant relationship with their cash management practices. However, their sex, source of income, household size and their number of dependents were found to have no significant relationship with their cash management practices. Consequently, the study recommends that in order to be more prepared in times of crisis, households should acquire a source of household income that is not dependent on labor market flows and improve their cash management practices in terms of saving and investing.
