Abstract: GARONIA, ELFIE N. & EMELO, RHOY V., Knowledge and Practices of Barangay Lumampong Balagbag, Indang Cavite towards Executive Order no.1 series of 2018, Creating the Barangay Ecological Solid Waste Management Committee. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Cavite State University. June 2022. Thesis Adviser: Renalyn Canding Solid Waste Management is an escalating issue in developing countries like in the Philippines. More likely the integration of the higher sector into municipal solid waste management is an environmental issue that good governance must address. This is also an undeniable fact to the Municipality of Indang and to its subject barangays. As the locale of Barangay Lumampong Balagbag significantly on the same footing as to how this country in general is facing the issue of waste today. The knowledge and the practice were significantly challenged. This study was aimed to determine the knowledge and practices of the Barangay Lumampong Balagbag towards Executive Order no. 1 series of 2018. A Barangay Policy which creates the Committee to observe, implement and regulate the waste management in the barangay as mandated from Republic Act 9003 also known as The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act. This aimed also to know whether there was a significant relationship between the knowledge and practices to the implementation of the policy. Through a descriptive correlational quantitative method, with used of slovin's formula in sampling, the twenty-two (22) percent respondents of the general population of the study were chosen randomly. They took a 4-scaling survey questionnaire in the data gathering. This 4-scaling survey method was divided in two parts. This was to determine the KNOWLEDGE and the PRACTICES of the respondents. The following statistical treatment used the mean, standard deviation, and Pearson R for the correlational approach. The researchers arrived at the findings with a remark of "fully knowledgeable", that there was a high level of knowledge of the respondents to the duties and functions and to the programs and plans of the waste management committee mandated by Barangay Executive Order no.1 ser. 2018. This proved that there was high recognition and understanding both in general and specific topics on the part of the residents towards the implementation of waste management policy. As to the practices part, the remarks of the finding that resulted in the "Always" remark inferred the high level of practices of the residents in terms of waste segregation and policy and programs participation. This significantly proved that there was always and regular practice straight in a week in waste segregation policy and strict compliance and commitment to the programs and policy of the local government-the barangay on the part of the residents. As to the significant relationship between the Knowledge of the residents to their practices in the Implementation of E.O no.1 ser. 2018, the results got an R- value of .4112 and p-value of .001 which were interpreted and analyzed as "Moderately Correlated", therefore the hypothesis in which 'there was no significant relationship was void in the findings. It was also proven that the knowledge and practices of the respondents had moderate correlation to the implementation of the policy. The result suggested that the residents' role had significant impact to the effective policy implementation hence the participation and awareness of the citizenry in the community in waste management significantly led to the proper waste management policy and execution. As the results suggested, the LGU's must continue and pursue what is already done and initiated in the legislation. Specifically, there must be emphasis on the promotion of livelihood from waste material by utilizing disposal facilities such as the MRFs. There must be continuous development to four programs provided in the policy which are the educational, enforcement, engineering and entrepreneurial approaches for outstanding results of the success of waste management as it adhered to the mandates of Republic Act 9003, an act for ecological solid waste management.
