NAZAIRE, ERIKA GAIL and PANERIO, REGINA JOY B. The Capability of Selected Social Work Students from Cavite State University- Main Campus in Dealing with Flexible Learning During the Academic Year 2020-2021, Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, May 2021, Adviser: Ms. Maria Catherine A. Bacor.
The study was conducted from March to May 2021 through Google Forms, an online platform to determine if the selected Social Work students at Cavite State University- Main Campus can deal with flexible learning during the Academic Year 2020-2021. Specifically, the study aimed to know if the selected Social Work students have access to flexible learning materials or equipment; to determine what type of general skills (intellectual skill, linguistics skill et al.) does the selected Social Work students display to efficiently deal with flexible learning; and to determine if the students can rely on the capacity of their technology. Descriptive Research was used in the study. The BS Social Work Program of Cavite State University- Main Campus was the participants and respondents of the study. Out of 239 students in the Academic Year 2020-2021, 155 respondents answered the survey. The survey showed that the majority of the respondents has access to Smartphone or Android phone and Wi-Fi or Data Connection. Therefore, most of the respondents can comply and has access to learning materials or equipment during flexible learning. The top 3 used general skills that majority of the respondents' display to efficiently deal with Flexible Learning are: (1) Artistic Skill, (2) Intrapersonal Skill, and (3) Interpersonal Skill. Moreover, the students gave an average of 7 out of 10 gadget ratings. They all agree that they can rely on the capacity of their gadget, but there are some instances where they encounter problems. Through this research, the author contributes to giving a background on the struggles face by the students in the education sector brought by the pandemic. There are several elements to consider when performing flexible learning, including access. to learning materials or equipment, general skills, and time constraints, reliance on technology's capabilities, can assist the Social Worker in assessing a student to aid in the student's areas of weakness and provide flexibility in the method, time, and activities of instruction. The function of social work can be interpreted from these factors as detecting possible regions of imbalance between individuals or groups and the environment to prevent disequilibrium.
