Abstract: ALVAREZ, KATE M. Preliminary Study on the incidence of Destruction of Racehorses in the Country's three recognized clubs namely Manila Jockey Club (Carmona, Cavite) Philippine Racing Club (Naic, Cavite) and Metro Manila Turf Club (Malvar, Batangas) from year 2014- 2018. Undergraduate Thesis. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Dr. Emmanuel R. Mago. The study was conducted from August 2021 to May 2022 through data gathering from the three registered racetracks in the Philippines namely Manila Jockey Club in Carmona, Cavite, Philippine Racing Club in Naic, Cavite; and Metro Manila Turf Club in Malvar, Batangas about the cases of destructed horses and total horse runs from year 2014-2018. The study was conducted to determine and evaluate which among the different race clubs had the highest incidence of destruction of racehorses from year 2014-2018 and if the result conforms to the international standards of 1 destructed horse per 1000 runs. Upon assessment of the results, the three registered racetracks is in acceptable standing based on the international standards of destructed horses from year 2014-2018. It is only in year 2016 and 2018 were there is minimal increase on the ideal value of 1 destructed horse per 1000 runs, but comparing it to other countries, Philippines is still in a very good standing in the cases of destructed horses. This also means that the race clubs under study do also consider in the very first place the animal health and safety of the horses whenever there is a race because the acquired results against the international normal of destructed horses is on acceptable values.
