Matienzo This study aimed to determine the male and female differences in using compliments among selected students of College of Arts and Science of Cavite State University- Main Campus. The study was conducted from February 2022 to May 2022. The researchers used mixed methods to determine the female and male differences in using compliments and compliment response strategies in different compliment topics. The researchers used Focus Group Discussion and interview questions to gather the data needed. This study obtained 333 compliments and 336 compliment responses from randomly selected 40 students of College of Arts and Sciences. In this study, it was found that the female subjects used more explicit compliments than males. On the other hand, both male and female subjects attained the same frequency of the implicit compliment. For the compliment response strategy, it was found that both male and female subjects used more acceptance response strategies compared to other strategies when they received compliments. However, there were still small differences found between males and females regarding the use of compliment response strategies. It was revealed that male subjects used more strategies like acceptance, non-acceptance, no response, and combination than females, while female subjects used more strategy acceptance with amendment than males. In terms of common utterances, it was proven that there was no significant differences because both genders used gathered common utterances
