Abstract: Cabangis Dianne Raliz R. and Descallar Karen Grace R. Techy na sina Nancy at Tatay: Parents' Engagement on Facebook and their Family Communication Patterns. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts and Journalism. Cavite State University. Indang Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Ms. Ruby A. Manaig. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of parents' engagement on Facebook to their family communication patterns. The participants of the study were parents in Indang, Cavite who are engaged on Facebook. Ten participants in each of the 36 barangays were chosen whose age range is between 35-55 years old. Philippine Demographics profile revealed that the average age of parents whose children are in teenage fall between these age ranges. Participants should be a parent and a Facebook user. One- hundred forty of the participants were highly engaged on Facebook, 186 were moderately engaged, 24 were just engaged and only one had a poor engagement. In conversation orientation, 334 are had high and 26 had low conversation orientation. Three hundred forty- seven of the parents had high conformity and 13 had low. Three hundred thirty- one parents had consensual type of family, four had pluralistic type, 17 were protective type, and eight had a Laissez-faire family type. Majority of the participants were moderately engaged on Facebook. Most parents had high conversation and high conformity and had consensual family type. In accordance with the result of the study, it revealed that there is a linear significant relationship between parents' engagement on Facebook and their family communication patterns. The higher their engagement, the higher conversation and conformity they could acquire.
