Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2010. Adviser: Ms. Joy G. Novero. The study was focused on the subjective well-being of the residents in selected depressed and non-depressed areas in Bacoor, Cavite. The general objective of the study was to determine the subjective well-being of the selected depressed and non-depressed areas in terms of life satisfaction, positive affect and negative affect; to determine the subjective well-being of the residents in selected non-depressed areas in terms of life satisfaction, positive affect and negative affect; and, to determine the significant difference of subjective well-being between the depressed and non-depressed areas in terms of life satisfaction, positive affect and negative affect. The study used comparative design. Simple Random and Snow-Ball sampling were used in selecting the areas and respondents that represented the population of the subject. The study was conducted in ten barangays of Bacoor, Cavite. For depressed areas, Zapote V (Longos), Talaba II, Tabing Dagat (Pob.), Maliksi I and Maliksi III. While for the non-depressed areas, Salinas II, Salinas III, Real I, Real I] and Panapaan VIII. A total of two hundred respondents were asked to answer the two instruments. The answered instruments were analyzed and statistically tested. The result reveals that the residents in selected depressed areas were dissatisfied in life, and felt neutral positive affect and negative affect. The residents in depressed areas have average close to low subjective well-being. While, the residents in non- depressed areas were satisfied in life, feel high positive affect and neutral negative affect. . The residents in non depressed areas have high close to average subjective well-being. The result also reveals that there was significant difference between the subjective well- being of the residents in depressed areas and non-depressed areas.
