Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2010. Adviser; Ms. Alma Fatima R. Reyes. This study was conducted to determine the reasons, lifestyle and interpersonal behavior of gays in selected areas in Dasmarifias, Cavite. Specifically, this study aimed to determine (1) the lifestyle of gays; (2) the interpersonal behavior of gays; (3) the relationship between reasons and lifestyle, relationship between reasons and interpersonal behavior, and the relationship between lifestyle and interpersonal behavior of gays; and (4) the reasons for becoming a gay. The researcher used the descriptive correlational design for her study to find the relationship among reasons, lifestyle and interpersonal behavior of gays in selected areas in Dasmarinas, Cavite. It describes the situation systematically accurately. The study revealed that majority of the gays or seventy three point nine percent (73.9%) of gays were socially useful or healthy style of life which exhibits activity in the service of others such people confront life tasks and attempt to resolve them in a manner consistent with the needs of other individuals. On the other hand, the level of interpersonal behavior of gays towards family was very high and least of them were high. Majority of the gays’ level of interpersonal behavior towards friends was also very high and least of them were high. Majority of the gays’ level of interpersonal behavior towards co-workers was very high level, most of them were high level and least of them were low level. The result of the study revealed that lifestyle and interpersonal behavior are not significantly related. Gays have very high level of interpersonal behavior towards their family, friends and co-workers. Majority of them were socially useful or have a healthy lifestyle. Though lifestyle and interpersonal behavior are not significantly related, the reasons of gays have significant relation to their lifestyle and level of interpersonal behavior. The result of the study also revealed that there are certain reasons in becoming gays. Their surrounding and the people around them was one of the major reasons. Another factor was genetic or hereditary. Most of them have relatives that were gays and lesbians too. In addition to this, family structure was also a major factor for gays. The absence of the father and the closeness to the mother and siblings was one of the factors. There were gays who don’t really know the reasons of their sexuality; some says that it started from their childhood until they accepted it when they were in high school or college. Each person has interpersonal needs and during late adolescence, the need for integration into adult society, most of the gays achieved the feelings of security because they have a very high level of interpersonal behavior and in relation to their lifestyle, integration into adult society and exhibits activity in the service of others such people confront life tasks and attempt to resolve them in a manner consistent with the needs of other individuals or socially useful type of lifestyle.
