Abstract: MALANAO, PRINCESS ELORA C. Self-Concept and Personal-Social Adjustment of Female Adolescents with Absentee Father in Selected Barangays in Naic, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science Major in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2010. Adviser: Ms. Louziela P. Masana. The study was designed to find out the self-concept and personal-social adjustment of female adolescents with absentee fathers in selected barangays in Naic, Cavite. Specifically, this study aimed (1) to know the reasons of having an absentee father; (2) to determine the level of self-concept of female adolescents; (3) to determine the level of personal-social adjustment of father-absent girls; (4) to know if there is a significant relationship between the reasons for having an absentee father and self- concept of the respondents; (5) to know if there is significant relationship between the reasons for having an absentee father and personal-social adjustment; and (6) to know if there is a significant relationship between self concept and personal-social adjustment of the female adolescents with absentee father. Descriptive correlation design was used in the study. Two standardized questionnaires were used to gather the needed data. The level of self-concept was determined using the Pasao Self-Concept Rating Scale which was lifted from Advincula (1999). Meanwhile, California Test of Personality was used to measure the personal-social adjustments of the respondents. The 100 respondents were chosen using the purposive sampling. Mean, standard deviation, chi-square and Spearman rank were the Statistical methods used to analyze the data. The main reason for my father is employment abroad. Out of the 100 respondents, 47 of them have father working outside the country. The self-concept of the female adolescents has a mean of 379.68 and a standard deviation of 33.100. This result is within the above average level. The level of personal-social adjustment is within the average level. It has a mean of 199.15 and a standard deviation of 22.951. Based on the results, the reason for the absence of a father has no significant relationship with the self-concept and with the personal-social adjustment of the female adolescents. The results also revealed that there is a significant relationship between self-concept and personal- social adjustment of the respondents.
