Abstract: YOON, SU JI. Hiring Preferences and Recruitment Strategies of Korean Garment Companies in Cavite Export Processing Zone.Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Human Resource Management. Cavite State University, College of Economics, Management, and Development Studies, Indang, Cavite. April 2012. Adviser: Ms. Rowena R. Noceda This study was conducted to describe the demographic characteristics of the Korean garment company employers in terms of age, gender, civil status, and educational attainment; describe the company profile of the Korean businesses in terms of manpower size, form of business organization, and years of operation; identify the recruitment Strategy used by the Korean garment companies; and identify the qualifications/preferences that the Korean company owners are looking for in their applicants. Descriptive design was used in this study. Total enumeration was used to determine the number of participants thereby gathering a total of 19 respondents. Data were gathered based on the modified interview tool of Toledo (2005) and Bernthal (2002) and were analyzed using nonparametric measures like mean, percentage and ranks. Results showed that majority of the Korean garment company owners are 46 years old and above, male, married, and college degree holders. As regards to the company profile, most had a manpower size of 151-200, with corporation form of organization, and were operating for either 10 years or more. The most considered recruitment strategy was internal job posting. The primary qualifications considered for production post are skills and age of the applicant; for the administrative position, skills, nationality, and educational attainment and for the support position, skills and gender of the applicants. It is perceived that the method of recruitment that most of these companies are using is operational to acquiring the right manpower supply considering their hiring preferences for the various positions in their company.
