DAVIDAO, DAVE S., ESTRELLA, JOHN HENRY l. Design and Development of a Rear Four-Wheel Drive Manual Transfer Case Instructional trainer. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science Industrial Technology major in Automotive Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Adviser: Prof. Mr. Keno S. Domingo
The design project depicts how a four-wheel drive's gear rotates and how it functions properly. A transfer case is a gearbox attached to a four-wheel drive vehicle that transfers an equal amount of torque to the front and rear axles and obtains high and low torque transmission. By splitting the engines' power, 2WD and 4WD can be obtained through the transfer case, depending on the needs of the vehicle. The Rear four-wheel drive manual transfer case instructional trainer is a device that is designed to demonstrate how the transfer case works when it is in use. This designed instructional trainer will assist both instructors and students in analyzing and visualizing the transfer case principle. The instructional trainer has 15 inches in width, 20 inches in length and 32.5 inches in height frame with 1.5mm angle bar to support the transfer case assembly. A 6 % height caster wheel is fully welded to the foot of the frame to be easily moved anywhere in the laboratory. The frame is painted with a primer grey paint and finished with a flat black paint and a manual handle is bolted to the input flange of the transfer case assembly to be easily rotate manually and a rectangle mark is painted to the rear and front flange of the assembly as an indication to see if movement changes while using. The researchers ensure effectiveness and accountability as an instructional trainer Furthermore, the comments and evaluations of the technical critique, automotive instructors, and automotive students will be greatly appreciated by the researchers. The study surely will give benefits to the automotive students, while performing an activity about four-wheel drive system. It will lead them to understand more about four-wheel drive. The estimated cost of designing and developing the trainer is around PI 3,530.
