Abstract: MARTINEZ, JUSSEL B., VELASCO, SHULAMAYE P. AND WAILAN, DIANE CAMILLE G. Assessment of the Faculty Health Intervention Strategies Employed in Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Indang, Cavite. April 2012. Adviser: Ms. Nenita B. Panaligan, RN, MAN. A study was undertaken to assess the faculty health intervention strategies employed in Cavite State University (CvSU), Indang, Cavite. Specifically, the study describe the demographic profile of CvSU faculty members; determined the health profile of CvSU faculty members; identified the health intervention strategies implemented by the University Infirmary for CvSU faculty members in the areas of annual physical and medical check-up, vaccination program, standby medical team to university activities, and consultation and treatment; determined the effectiveness of health intervention strategies implemented by the University Infirmary as perceived by CvSU faculty members; and determined whether the demographic profile and the health profile of CvSU faculty members are significantly related to their perceived effectiveness of health intervention strategies implemented by the University Infirmary. Descriptive-correlational research design was used in this study. A survey instrument was used to gather the necessary information from the respondents. Respondents of the study were 274 faculty members employed in CvSU-Main Campus and were actively teaching at the time of survey. Statistical tools such as frequency count, mean, range, percentage, standard deviation, and chi-square test were used to answer the objectives of this study. Results showed that faculty members of CvSU-Main Campus were generally female, married and hold a contractual full time instructor position at the university. Most of them have been working at the University for Eight years or less. Majority of the faculty members came from the College of Arts and Sciences. Faculty members of CvSU had healthy weight with good health in general. However, one-third of the faculty members were suffering from long standing illness or disability. Hypertension, diabetes and digestive problems were the most common illness/diseases of the faculty members. Likewise, The activities of daily living in terms of household maintenance, physical activities, recreation/leisure, social activities and spiritual activities were performed by faculty members with “no difficulty at all”. Standby medical team to university activities was the area in which faculty members perceived that the University Infirmary was able to deliver effectively. However, vaccination program of the University Infirmary needs further improvement since this was perceived as “ineffective” by faculty members. Test statistics showed that tenure status of faculty members influenced their assessment with regards to the effectiveness of health intervention strategies implemented by the University Infirmary. Contractual faculty members gave low ratings on effectiveness while higher ratings were given by permanent and temporary faculty members. On the other hand, the health profile of faculty members did not have any considerable influence on the assessment of faculty members with regards to the effectiveness of health intervention strategies implemented by the University Infirmary.
