Abstract: VIDALLO, NESLIE S. Profile and Socio-emotional Status of Physically Abused Children in Selected Municipalities of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. April 2009 Thesis Adviser: Teresa Q. Amarille This study was conducted to determine the profile and socio-emotional status of physically abused children reported in selected Municipalities of Cavite such as; Indang, Tanza, Rosario and General Trias. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the profile of the respondents in terms of: age, gender grade or year level, family status and forms of abuse experienced; to determine the socio-emotional status of the respondents in terms of: anxiety, depression, sense of trust an sense of respect; to determine the relationship of profile to the socio-emotional status of the respondents and also to determine the respondents view on abuse. The respondents of this study reported physically abused children in different MSWD (Municipal Social Welfare and Development) offices in Cavite. Like Tanza, Rosario and General Trias. The study has 17 respondents that experienced physical abuse. Purposive sampling and convenience sampling was used to identify the appropriate respondents in the study. The study made use of quantitative and qualitative research design. In this study questionnaire was used as the main instrument followed by situational question to determine the respondents view from abuse. The statistical measures employed were: percentage, frequency, means, standard deviation and spearman rank correlation coefficient. Another technique in analyzing the data would be the content analysis where qualitative response of the respondents will be evaluated through analyzing the statements given in the situational question. The findings of the study indicated that most of the respondents are in the average level of socio-emotional status. In this study it shows that age and other forms of abuse have no significant relationship to the socio-emotional status of the respondents. And based on the findings gender, grade or year level, and family status has a significant relationship to the socio-emotional status of the respondents.
