Abstract: FERANIL, Mary Joyce J. and FLARES, Jean Irish Q. Learning Content Management System on Engineering Management. An Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in computer Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2008. Adviser: Mr. Marlon Pereiia. The software developed is a Learning Content Management System on Engineering Management. The software gives an online discussion about Engineering Management and serves as a teaching aid in studying the subject which presents lessons based on the standard course outline given by the faculty of the Civil Engineering Department. The software was developed especially for the benefit of the instructor and students of the Engineering Management subject. The software serves as quick reference to students for better understanding the lesson and helps the instructors when they encounter conflicts whenever they leave their class for important activities like seminars and meetings and by lessening their time consumed for preparing modules. The software could also accommodate a large number of students without having to look for new instructors. The main objective of the study is to develop a learning content management system On engineering management wherein students can study their lessons through the use of web, to make advantage of its visual environment and interactive nature. This will promote an educational tool wherein college students will be entertained and at the same time, they will learn and gain knowledge. This is one way of helping the students to be more interested to the subject matter. The software was developed to help the students complete their training conveniently during off-hours. The software also assess the learning ability of students by giving exams after the entire chapter was presented and provides a teaching aid for the instructors of the subject. The software was developed with the use of Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, PHP as programming language, MySQL for database and Apache Server. The paradigm used was Fourth Generation Technique (4GT). It has four phases. The first phase is the requirement definition phase wherein data process, interface and requirements are gathered through observation and interviews. In this phase, the proponents set objectives of the study, identifies the scope of the study and gather system requirements. The second phase is the design strategy. First, the visualization of the appearance, the structure of the database, the structure of the application, the user interface and the design structure of the system was conducted. The design or the interface of the system was created through the use of Macromedia Dreamweaver MX. The third phase is the implementation using 4GL. The design created in the second phase was called with use of cascading style sheet to apply it in coding. Integrated Development Environment, Database Management System, Word Processor and the software used is PHP, MySQL, Apache server was used. The last phase is the testing phase wherein debugging was conducted to ensure that the system will work properly for evaluation and implementation. Function testing was also conducted. Evaluation is also done in this phase. It checked for the acceptability of the system by the students and instructors of Engineering Management. They rated the system with certain criteria to know if it is acceptable or not. The result was based upon the result of the statistical method.
