Abstract: MARNY M. DESENGAÑO, CHLOE CRYSTAL Y. DOROJA, JEAN MARIE A. ESGUERRA, Late Infancy Feeding Pattern and the Achievement of Growth and Development Milestone of Toddlers Aged 1 to 3 Years in Selected Municipalities of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. 2012-013. Adviser. Nenita B. Panaligan, RN, MAN. This study was conducted in three selected municipalities of Cavite, specifically Indang, Silang, and Tanza to investigate the late infancy feeding pattern and the achievement in growth and development of toddlers. In particular, the study aimed to: determine the demographic and anthropometric characteristics of toddlers; assess and interpret the developmental status of toddlers; find out the utilized feeding pattern during their late infancy period of 6 to 12 months whether breast milk with solid foods, formula milk with solid foods or the combination of both patterns, and determine the significant relationship of growth and development to the demographic profile and late infancy feeding of toddlers. The study utilized descriptive correlational research design approach that will describe and reveal the condition of the toddlers in selected municipalities of Cavite. A total 150 toddlers were the target population of the Study aged 12 to 47 months both male and female who were not mentally ill. They underwent several tests to determine their development and they were measured to identify their growth. In addition, the societal status and health management for the toddlers were excluded in the study. The late infancy feeding pattern was investigated through an interview with the primary caregiver of toddlers. In assessing their growth, the demographic profile and anthropometric measurements in height and weight were measured and described the Filipino Child Growth Standards as references. And for the toddler’s development, the Metro Manila Developmental Screening Test (MMDST) was used as a tool. The Chi square test was used to identify the relationship of growth and development of toddlers to their demographic profile and their late infancy feeding. Moreover, the data gathered were tallied, interpreted, and statistically analyzed. Results show that most of the toddlers assessed were growing and developing normally. Most of the toddlers were utilizing formula milk with solid foods. In addition, no significant relationship between the growth and development of toddlers to their demographic profile and their late infancy feeding was established. But height-for-age has significant relationship to the age of toddlers.
