The 460-hour plant practice was conducted at Pepsi — Cola Products Philippines Incorporated (PCPPI), located at km 29, National Road, Tunasan, Muntinlupa City, 1773 Philippines. As a trainee with background in food technology she was assigned as a Quality Control Assistant Analyst, which provided her exposure in the actual Quality Control operations and processing activities for Pepsi-Cola. She was assigned to receive and inspect packaging materials, where she conducted stress crack test for plastic bottles, fill height measurements for new bottles and evaluation of enamel coating in can bod and can end of lift-tab soft drink cans. She also evaluated can seam in terms of thickness and height.
The student was also given the chance to work on syrup validation where she experienced determining the degree Brix values of full strength syrup as a reference in formulating syrup for Pepsi-Cola.
In the laboratory she was also assigned to do microbial counting of incubated dishes of line-sample. She was also trained to collect wastewater samples for analysis.
