A plant practice was conducted from December 8, 2003 to March 5, 2004 for 460 hours at Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc. at Brgy. Pulong Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa Laguna. During the plant practice the student was oriented with the company and was given the chances to observe actual production operation of soft drinks. Hands-on activities on quality control operation including, monitoring of brix, phosphate, color, and gas volume of the soft drinks during production, receiving of raw materials, and sensory evaluation of the product were conducted.
Quality Control operation was based on the standard and specification of the company, which were strictly conformed with by the management and workers, to assure the quality and safety of the soft drink product.
This plant practice enabled the author to have good personnel relation, to improve self-confidence and practice self-discipline. This also provided the author worthwhile
experience and develop appreciation of the role of food technologist in the food
manufacturing industry.
