Abstract: AUSTRIA, MARJORIE D., “EFFECTS OF FREQUENCY OF TRIMMING AND KINETIN APPLICATION ON THE YIELD OF ASPARAGUS (Asparagus officinalis)". A research study of the Laboratory School, School of Education, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite. Adviser: Professor Josefino A. Viado The study entitled “Effects of Frequency of Trimming and Kinetin Application on the Yield of Asparagus (Asparagus officinalis)?" was conducted to determine the effects of frequency of trimming and kinetin application on the yield of asparagus; and to know the best frequency of trimming and concentration of kinetin on the yield of asparagus. A split-plot design was used with a total of 90 asparagus plants composing of factors A and B replicated thrice. Factor A (frequency of trimming) is composed of two treatments as follows: Ty, plants trimmed once @ week at a height of two feet,; and, Tg, plants trimmed once every two weeks at a height of two feet. Treatment Co, controls C,, 50 ppm; Cz, 100 ppm; Cz, 150 ppa; and, Cy, 200 ppo are the treatments for factor B (concentration of kinetin). The study revealed that kinetin application and frequent trimming of the crops enhance more production of spears. Crops applied with 200 ppm kinetin has an increased yield, weight and height. However, longer, heavier and more spears could be produced when crops are trimmed weekly.
