EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF FEEDS ON THE GROWTH OF CATFISH (Clarias batrachus). Adviser: Mr. Erano CG. Esguerra The experiment entitled EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF FEEDS GN THE GROWTH OF CATFISH, was conducted from September, 1992 to January, 1993 at the DSAC Faculty Village, iIndang, Cavite. The study aims to determine the effects of different kinds of feeds on the growth of catfish and to identify which non-commercial feed is beast suited for the growth of catfish. One hundred eighty (180) catfish fingerlings distributed in a 3m x Om x .5m fishpond divided into twelve compartments were used in the experiment. There were four treatments replicated three times in a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments were T, 7 rice bran, To - fish viscera, T3 - chicken entrails and Ty ~ mixture of fish viscera and chicken entrails. The study revealed that Ta (mixture of fish viscera and chicken entrails? is the best non-commercial feed for catfish. This treatment gave the best results in terms of weight (112.8 ¢g>, length (27.6 cm), and diameter (5.1 cm) of the fish. The same treatment gave the highest feed consumption (165.2 g) among other rations used. This means that the mixture of fish viscera and chicken entrails is more acceptable to catfish among the rations.
