Abstract: FABRIGA, SARAH JANE R. Operation and Management of Animal Feeds and Supply Stores in Selected Areas of Cavite. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. April 2006. Adviser: Mrs. Rowena R. Noceda. The study was conducted to asses and evaluate the operation and management of animal feeds and supply stores in selected areas of Cavite. Specifically. it aimed to describe the socio-economic characteristics of the storeowners in selected areas of Cavite. describe the business characteristics of animal feeds and supply stores in selected areas of Cavite, describe the operation and management practices employed by the store owners, determine and analyze the profitability of the store operations in selected areas of Cavite. and identify the problems encountered in the operation of animal feeds and supply stores in selected areas of Cavite. One hundred owner/operators of the stores were used as respondents in the study. It was found out that the average age of the respondents was 39 years old. Majority of them were male, married and college graduates. Of the 100 stores, 83 percent were managed as sole proprietorship. Seventy seven percent of the respondents established their own business through their own effort and resources. Majority of them (70%) had located their stores within the town considering the large number of customers present in the area. Most of the storeowners employed helpers and drivers as assistant on their operation and in dealing with customers needs. The average number of employees of the stores was two while 17 percent of the stores had no employees. Majority of the stores (80%) were open seven days a week with a maximum hours of the store operation was 14 hours, while the minimum hours of operation was 9 hours. Ninety four percent of the store kept their daily sales record to evaluate the quantity of good sold. The average monthly gross profit of animal feeds and supply stores in selected areas of Cavite was P36,357.10, while their average monthly net profit was PhP19.014.06. The number one problem encountered by the stores was the presence of large numbers of competitors in the area.
