Abstract: This study was conducted with the primary aim of determining the effect of skim milk on the growth of broilers and the maximum time limitation of feeding skim milk to broilers. It was conducted at the Poultry Division, Department of Animal Science, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, from November 26, 1977 to January 20, 1978. A total of one hundred (100) straight run day—old Arbor Acre broiler chicks were used in the experiment. They were randomly and equally distributed into four lots of twenty-five birds each. Lot 1, as the control received continuous pure broiler mash feeding. Lot II, III, and IV had broiler mash with skim milk for 2, 4, and 6 consecutive weeks respectively. Results showed that the heaviest weight was obtained in Lot IV with the total weight of 1616.717 grams followed by Lots III, II, and I with 1552.328 grams, 1488.844 grams, and 1332.850 grams respectively. The average feed consumption per bird was lowest in Lot II with 4.1704 kilograms, followed by Lot III with 4.1800 kilograms, Lot I with 4.2637 kilograms, and Lot IV with 4.4463 kilograms. The average cost of feeds to produce a kilogram gain in weight was lowest in Lot II with p5.05, followed by Lot III, I, and IV with P5.30, 155.59, and P6.15 respectively. There were three mortalities during the eight-week period of study. The highest labor income was attained in Lot II with P0.65 per kilogram broiler sold, followed by Lot III with r0.40, Lot I with r0.11 and Lot IV with (minus)-M.45. Results revealed that feeding skim milk to broilers influenced growth, gain in weight of chicks. Also, feeding skim milk for a duration of two weeks provide the highest economic return.
