Online resources: Abstract: A study of the therapeutic effect of NEOMIX 25 among piglets was conducted to determine the effectiveness as a preventive medication against diarrhiea in swine and to find its effect on the growth of piglets. Eighteen week old ducklings were used in the study. The animals were divided into 3 groups at random. Two of the groups were treated with NEOMIX 25 at 0.5 and 1.0 gram level/4.5 and 6.8 kilograms body weight fortified with the pre-starter ration. Results showed that NEOMIX 25 is an effective medication in the prevention of the onset of diarrhea among sucklings if given at a higher level of concentration. The same study also revealed that sucklings given pre-starter ration fortified with NEOMIX 25 produced higher weekly gain in weight and heavier final weight after 3 weeks of feeding. NEOMIX 25 aside from being recommended as medication for the prevention of diarrhea can be used as growth booster for piglets owing to its being neomycin sulfate based ana the sucrose it contains. No after effect has been observed two weeks after the withdrawal of NEOMIX. Piglets treated with NEOMIX continued to grow faster than those without treatment.
