Abstract: The study on the piggery management practices was conducted at the National Rural Life Center farm in Palapala, Dasmarinas, Cavite from December 1977 to February 1978. The aim of the study was to gather infor-mation about the management practices employed in the piggery farm for possible guidance of those who may like to go into swine raising as a business. The owner had put up, P15,000.00 as his initial investment. The farm had a total land area of seventeen hectares. The total number of foundation stocks used was 3 heads which after one and one half years of operation had increased to 188 heads. The different breeds raised were Spotted Polland China, Duroc Jersey, Berkjala and Landrace. Some of the breed came from Heifer International, U. S. and Iowa. The piggery fait was engaged in breeding. Marketing was not a problem for they had a ready market for their produce. Twice a day dry feeding method was practiced. The type of housing used was the Central hog house system which was provided with complete water facilities. The pens and flooring were slightly elevated fo facilitate convenience in cleaning. Entrance of every building was provided with foot pool disinfectant to prevent possible entrance of disease causing organism. Disease observed were influenza and scouring. Early immunization was given to the animal to prevent outbreak of disease. Complete record about the performance of the stock as well as the different operation in the piggery farm was kept.
