Abstract: The study. "Response of Different Ages of 6antan Stem Cuttings to hooting hormone" was conducted from September 27, 1978 to December 10, 1978 in the Main Nursery of the Don Severino Agricultural College, indang, Cavite. Its aim was to determine which of the different ages of the cuttings would respond best to rooting hormone. The experiment was conducted in thoroughly mixed and sterilized soil media, composed of garden soil, sawdust and compost. The different stem cuttings of santan were taken from the healthy mother plants and were dipped in the rooting hormone before planting. The softwood stem cuttings were the first one to develop roots then followed by semi-hard wood and the last was the hardwood stems. Successive typhoons occur in the early part of the experiment. The aphids, common ants, cut worms and caterpillars were observed eating the leaves, however, no chemical control was done because the damage was not serious. Band picking of aphids was done just to minimize the infestation. Based on the results of this study, Treatment 1 softwood stem cuttings) showed to be the most effect-ive planting materials for santan propagation.
