The study was conducted to determine the management practices employed in Nuestro's Poultry Farm at Maitim, Made°, Cavite on January to February 1979. The project started with 100 AA-26 layers that were increased to 1,800 birds at present. Day old chicks were housed in cleaned and well-disinfected range type brooder pens provided with electric hoovers.
Chicks were initially fed in empty clean cement bags and were shifted through feeding troughs. Growers were fed three times a day with universal grower feeds. Fresh and clean drinking water was provided at all times, while layers were fed twice a day with B-Meg layer mash. Kerosene lamps and heated charcoal were used as a source of heat and light during the electric current interruption. Culling and sanitation were strictly followed in the farm. A monthly egg output of 1,170 was obtained by the farm; eggs were sold to neighboring barrio folks, restau-rants and market vendors. Frequent increase in the prices of feeds was the only problem encountered by the raiser.
