Abstract: This study "Management Practices at Fortunato Swine Project" was conducted to determine the management practices employed at Fortunato Santos Swine Project in Barrio Francisco, Tagaytay City from August to September, 19790 The project was visited personally and questionnaire was used to gather information needed° The project has an initial capital investment of P1,210.00. The owner has been engaged in the business for five years with an initial stock of 4 weanerso At present the project has a total number of 64 heads of Large White, Duroc Jersey and Berkshire breed. The management practices employed were Animals were fed three times a day with wet and dry Leeds Gilts were usually order at the age of 7 months through natural means At this juncture close supervision was done to assure the acceptance of the gilts in the service of the boar, Pregnant sows were transferred to the farrowing pen one or two weeks before giving birth newly farrowed sows were fed 2 days after farrowing with lo5 kgmo of feeds per Day The amount of ing full feeding, at feeds was increased daily until reach the end of the week. The weaning age of the piglets was from five (5) to six (6) weeks with an average weight of 11.5 kgms.. The weavers were marketed to small hog raisers by retail, wholesale and liveweight basis. Weaners from Large White, Berkshire and Duroc Jersey breed have the same average weight of 1105 kgms. at the age of 45 days and an average weight of 16.2 kgms. at the time of disposal. Fatteners from large White, Berkshire and Duroc Jersey had an average weight of 89.2 kgms. in six months' care. Boars were fasted four hours before being used. Diseases commonly affecting the herd were scouring and mouth diseases. Early immunizations were given to animals to reduce mortality in the piglets. Record keeping in the farm was not done systematically.
