Abstract: Perey, Cherrylyn Crucena, Applied Research IV (Agricultural Science Curriculum), Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FATHER'S ABSENCE AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN DSAC, SY, 1994-1995. Adviser: Mrs. Emelita D. del Rosario This research study was conducted to determine the relationship between fathers’ absence and academic performance of selected high school students of DSAC, school year 1994 - 1995. The total population in this study was 96 selected high school students. It was found out in this study that father's absence had something to do with the academic performance of the respondents. Those whose fathers are either working abroad, deceased had an average level of academic performance while those whose fathers are separated had below average level of academic performance. It was also found out that the longer the father's absence, the lower their academic performance. Sex and mental ability are the other variables related to the academic performance of the respondents. The female respondents had higher academic performance than the male respondents. They performed academically according to their level of mental ability. The respondents had a satisfactory academic performance during the second grading period. Based on the findings in this study, the following are strongly recommended: 1) the parents should spend enough time with their children to guide them with their studies and 2) further studies on the father's absence with relations to social development be conducted
