This research study attempted to determine the relationship of parental attention and academic performance of the third-year high school students of SGA, school year 1994-1995. The total population in this study was 260 third year high school students in SGA. This study used 130 respondents, which is fifty percent of the total population. It was pointed out in this study that the third-year high school students of SGA received fair parental attention. They also had below average academic performance during the first grading period. Age and annual income were other variables related to the parental attention received by the respondents. The younger respondents received the highest parental attention and those who had moderately high annual income received moderately high parental attention too. It was also found out that the annual income and parental attention were related to academic performance. Those with a very high annual income and very high parental attention had the highest academic performance. Based on the findings, the following are strongly recommended: 1) the parents should provide the maximum parental attention to their school children so that they will have high academic performance; 2) the guidance counselors should encourage the parents to give enough parental attention needed by the school children; and 3) further studies on the relationship of amount of parental attention to academic performance to include other variables such as I.Q. and parents educational attainment are also recommended.
