Abstract: RAMOS, JONAS ROLLE, "Logistic Regression of the Decision to Migrate by the CVSU — Nursing Students from the Philippines", A Special problem, Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics (Major in Statistics), Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, March 2007. Adviser, Jennifer R. Mojica. This study was conducted to. identify the factors that are significantly related to the student's decisions. It aimed to determine whether a student belongs to migrate or stay group. It sought to formulate a logistic regression model for the student's decision to migrate and work abroad. The study gave emphasis in the age, gender, reasons in choosing nursing as a course, reasons in studying nursing in CVSU, plan after taking up nursing, desire to migrate and work as nurse abroad, expected monthly salary as a nurse in this country and abroad, target country for migration, source of income and number of relatives abroad as variables. The respondents of the study were first-fourth year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (CVSU) enrolled in second semester SY 2006-2007. Most of the nursing students wanted to migrate and work abroad. Three variables showed a significant result based from the chi-square statistics results namely: gender, student's desire to migrate and expected monthly salary abroad. The resulting logistic regression model was: Logit (Y) -9.203 + + 9.896& (2) + 13.314X6(3) Based from the model, only one independent variable highly affected the probability of the student's decision which was the student's desire to migrate and work abroad The total classification rate for the model was percent. It can be inferred that the logit function gives accuracy in terms of correct classification.
