Abstract: The idea of the production of board made from bagasse is a contribution to the conservation of wood resources since the material is inexpensive and available throughout the year. Bagasse board is a wallboard composed of bagasse and shaving bonded together with resin and compressed into rigid sheets. Its length and width is similar to hardboard with 3/4 inch in thickness. It can easily be bored, shaped or grooved with the edges kept smooth and tight, due to its uniform properties all throughout the board. This study was conducted to determine the viability and profitability of establishing a Philippine Bagasse Board Corporation in Brgy. Mataas na Lupa, Indang, Cavite. The results of this study will certainly serve as a basis to whether to pursue the project or not. On the marketing aspect, historical demand and supply figures were established through survey and interview of various hardware owners and households in the target location of the project. The projected market share was determined to be at 84,134 pieces of bagasse board for the year 2007. The technical aspect discussed the manufacturing steps involved in the production of bagasse board including the machine, equipment, furniture, fixtures, and other fixed assets. Bagasse board was manufactured in three layers. The outer layers are referred as the surface or the face layers, and the inner layers are termed the core layers. The general steps used to produce bagasse board include raw material procurement, classifying by size, drying, blending with the resin, forming the resinated material into mat, hot pressing and finishing. The management aspect discussed the form of business enterprise, the background of key personnel, definition of functions and the compensation plan. The project will engage in corporation as form of business. On financial aspect, initial capitalization was set at Php 47,469,962 to be sourced from the stockholders. Payback period was determined to be at the two years and two months. After five years of operation, the company was computed to earn an income of Php 16,526,814. The socio-economic aspect showed that the project is not only financially viable, but also desirable and economically acceptable. On the strength of the results of the study, the proponent strongly recommends the implementation of the project.
