This study determined if there is significant relationship between demographic profiles to social competence of varsity players of Cavite State University. Specifically, this study sought to determine the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, year level, awards received from the field of sports, competitions attended, length of time that they have been varsity players; which factors of social competence is practiced of the respondents; if there is significant relationship between demographic profile and social competence of varsity players of Cavite State University. This study was conducted from November to January 2007-2008 at Cavite State University, which focused mainly on demographic profile and social competence of varsity players. This study employed the descriptive design, which is integrated by a normative survey-method-using questionnaire as gathering tool. The results indicated the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, year level, awards received from the field of sports, competitions attended, and length of time that they have been varsity players. It reveals that in terms of age, high percentage of varsities belongs to age 21 years old and above. It shows that in gender male were dominant with females at 48 or 56.5 percent. In terms of year level it indicates that most of the varsities were in second year level at frequency of 21 or 31.8 percent. On the other hand in terms of awards received most of the varsities have no awards received with the frequency of 47 or 55.3 percent. However, in line with competitions attended, it shows that most varsities attended the inter university with the frequency of 55 or 64.7 percent.
Lastly, is the length of time that they have been varsity players, it indicates that most of the varsities have been in two years in service with the frequency of 26 or 41.3 percent. Study reveals that demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, year level, awards received from the field of sports, competitions attended and length of time that they have been varsity players has no significant relation with the respondents social competence. However, in terms of social competence most of the category that affect the social competence of the varsity is the empathy with the highest frequency of 37 or 43.5 percent. This, study reveals that varsity players of Cavite State University have a high level of Social Competence.
