Abstract: TOLEDO, KAREN TONIDO. Factors Affecting Achievement Motivation of Junior and Senior Students of Malabag National High School Academic Year 2007-2008. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor. of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Ms. Evalyne A. Rodriguez. This study entitled "Factors Affecting Achievement Motivation of Junior and Senior Students of Malabag National High School Academic Year 2007-2008" aimed to investigate the factors affecting the achievement motivation level of the respondents. Specifically this study aimed to (1) identify the demographic profile of the respondents; (2) distinguish the demographic factors that affect the achievement motivation of the participants; (3) determine the participants' level of achievement motivation; (4) find out if there is a significant relationship between achievement motivation of the respondents and the factors identified. The data were gathered using a modified instrument entitled Achievement Motivation Scale developed by Arges and the Factors Affecting Achievement Motivation Inventory which was adopted from validated instruments from junior and senior students (N=175) of Malabag National High School. Findings showed that the respondents are moderately influenced by their peers and their school and less influenced by their families. Results also revealed that majority of the population got an average level of achievement motivation. It has also been found out that only the family factor does not affect the respondents' willingness to try. On the other hand, only the peer factor was found to have no significant relationship in the respondents' desire for competition. Thus, all the factors identified were found to have a significant relationship in the respondents' desire for accomplishment. Findings also revealed that both the peer and the school factor has a significant relationship in the respondents' overall level of achievement motivation as measured by the three dimensions while no significant relationship was found between the family factor and the overall level of their achievement motivation.
